About Us
Our story
When the village shop originally closed in 2004, the community rallied round to find a way to keep this essential part of village life.
The following year, thanks to a grant from Defra and loans – both commercial and from members of the community – the Burton in Lonsdale Village Shop Association was able to buy the shop and flat above it.
Over the years the shop has been upgraded, most recently with the addition of double doors to make is easier for everyone to access the shop, with more products from local suppliers stocked and new services offered that are essential for a small rural village like ours.
Thanks to the determined efforts over the years of the Burton in Lonsdale Village Shop Association, volunteers and staff, the shop has gone from strength to strength.
You can be part of our story and help our well-loved shop thrive – why not volunteer?
